cultivate being

Chinese herbal medicine is the oldest, continuously practiced, literate professional medicine in the world. It has its earliest roots with the Shaman who knew the 'plant songs' and from where they came and intuitively understood their healing capacity.  They understood the medicine of stones. Then came the Teachers or Advisors who could explain the mechanisms of the minerals and plants and slowly developed skills through cultivation and discipline.  Later came the Physicians who academically learned various styles of medicine through studying with a family or specialty.  Thousands of years later, the goal remains the same - to restore balance and harmony to each individual.  Although many people may suffer from the same disease, I treat the individual because no two of us are alike.   What works for one does not necessarily work for the other.  Although my first choice of medicine is food, there are times when herbal and stone medicine is needed to bring balance.
